LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After upsetting No. 22 Kentucky in game one of the NCAA Tournament, the Kansas baseball team squares off against No. 13 Louisville, Saturday, May 31, at 4 p.m. inside Jim Patterson Stadium with the winner advancing to the regional championship game Sunday.
Kansas (35-24) is no stranger to Louisville (46-15) on the hardwood, however the two squads have never played one another on the diamond with Saturday’s contest marking the first meeting between the two in program history.
The Jayhawks took down No. 2-seeded Kentucky Friday evening in a six hour and 16 minute game consisting of three hours of rain delays. KU pounded out 13 hits en route to a 10-6 victory over the Wildcats. In the night cap, Louisville jumped on Kent State early with a two-run first inning, before tacking on three more to seal the deal, 5-0.
The winner of Saturday’s contest between Kansas and Louisville will move on to the championship bout, while the loser will play the winner between Kentucky and Kent State, which will be played prior to the start of the winner’s bracket championship.
