Pardula Named to Ray Guy Award Watch List

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Augusta Sports Council (ASC) announced Wednesday that senior punter Trevor Pardula earned one of 25 spots on the 2014 Ray Guy Award preseason watch list.

Named for football’s premier punter, the Ray Guy Award is presented to the nation’s best collegiate punter live each year on The Home Depot College Football Awards broadcast on ESPN. The winner is selected by the national voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) coaches, sports information directors, national media and former Ray Guy Award winners.

Pardula, a native of San Jose, California, earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors at punter in 2013 after booting 24 punts of more than 50 yards, including a career-best 78 yard punt, for an average of 43.7 yards per kick. Pardula also placed 25 punts inside the 20-yard line. He concluded the year topping the KU record books in punts in a season with 84 and single-season punting yards with 3,668.

Last season, Pardula was named to Phil Steele’s Midseason All-America Team, and earned national recognition for his performance in KU’s win over Louisiana Tech, as he was named the Ray Guy Award and Big 12 Special Teams player of the week, and College Football Performance Awards punter of the week.

Pardula and Kansas are set to begin the 2014 season on Sept. 6, as they play host to Southeast Missouri State. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., from Memorial Stadium.
