LAWRENCE, Kan. – With inclement weather surrounding the Lawrence area, the Kansas football team took to Anschutz Pavilion for Sunday’s edition of fall camp, donning shoulder pads for the first time.

With just two practices under their belts, the Jayhawks boasted a more game-like feel with the ability to bump pads and wrap-up just like in a game situation. The only difference being the ability to tackle, which will happen for the first time on Tuesday.

The day boasted highlights by both the offense and the defense. Senior wide receiver Nick Harwell snagged a catch in triple coverage from sophomore quarterback Montell Cozart. A few plays later, sophomore safety Fish Smithson picked off a pass by Michael Cummings and returned it 60 yards for the touchdown.

Both plays signified a strong showing for KU in their third practice of camp, following two days of acclimatization in helmets Friday and Saturday.
