Kansas Rowing Releases 2014-15 Schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas rowing head coach Rob Catloth announced the fall and spring schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season. A more home-friendly slate will allow fans to catch the action as the Jayhawks will host two home regattas this season and compete in two more in Kansas City.

Kansas begins its fall season with the second annual Jayhawk Jamboree on Oct. 18. Catloth and his team are thrilled for the chance to build on the fall home event that drew more than 2,000 fans to the river last season. The final tune-up before the spring season is Nov. 1-2 when the Jayhawks travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee, for the ever-challenging Head of the Hooch.

After winter break KU will head to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, for the Louisville Invite which is one of the toughest regattas in the country and features defending American Athletic Conference champion Louisville.

“The Louisville Invite is always a tough race against sever perineal Top-20 teams,” said Catloth.

KU will then host Drake for a team scrimmage in Lawrence on March 28. The Jayhawks will then head to Dallas, Texas, April 4 to square off with American Athletic Conference foe SMU. This will be a great opportunity for Kansas to show off the toughness in the Big 12 against another top-tier conference.

The end of April will be highlighted by two major regattas for Catloth and the Jayhawks. First they’ll head to West Windsor, New Jersey, April 11-12 to compete in the Knecht Cup, one of the top regattas in the nation. The second will be the Big 12 and Big Ten double dual on April 25 in Kansas City. The double dual will feature national power Wisconsin, as well as, Iowa and Oklahoma. It’ll be a great test for not only KU, but the Big 12.

In the last dual of the spring season, the Jayhawks will take on Kansas State on May 2 for the rights to the Kansas Cup at the Sunflower Showdown in Wyandotte County Lake.

The Big 12 Championship will take place in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, on May 17. Beginning in the 2014-15 season, the Big 12 Championship will serve as an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championship, so KU will no longer compete in Conference USA. The Big 12 will feature Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia, with the addition of Alabama, Old Dominion and Tennessee.
