KU Soccer to Host Party at the Park on Oct. 3

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The nationally-ranked Kansas soccer team will return to its new facility, Rock Chalk Park, for its Big 12 home opener on Oct. 3 and a matchup with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. The match will be at the center of several events and promotions as part of the “Party at the Park” festivities, which will celebrate the opening of Kansas Athletics’ state-of-the-art soccer, softball and track & field facility. The Kansas-Oklahoma State game will begin at 7 p.m., with general admission tickets on sale for $5.
 
The parking lots at Rock Chalk Park will open at 5 p.m., for fans wishing to tailgate. The band Twice on Sunday will kick off their set at 5 p.m., playing cover music from the 90s and 2000s in the Rock Chalk Park northeast parking lot. 
 
The Family Fun Zone, also located at the northeast parking lot, will be opened at 5 p.m., and will feature inflatables, a face painter, a balloon artist and more.
 
All general admission tickets for the soccer match will be sold for just $5. City of Lawrence employees and their families will receive $3 admission with proper identification. University of Kansas students are admitted to all soccer matches free of charge with valid KUID. Fans can purchase tickets in advance by visiting the Allen Fieldhouse box office or by going to the ticket page at KUAthletics.com.
 
The game will kick off at 7 p.m., but shortly beforehand head coach Mark Francis will be honored for his 200th-career coaching victory. At halftime of the match, Kansas soccer alumni will be recognized including the 2004 Big 12 Championship team that is celebrating its 10-year anniversary.
 
Fans in attendance can enter to win an authentic Kansas Soccer home jersey in the Family Fun Zone along with taking advantage of the Thunder sticks giveaway at the entrance to the stadium.
