Volleyball Advances to No. 7 in the AVCA Rankings

AVCA Coaches Poll (Oct. 19)

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Undefeated Kansas volleyball advanced two spots to a program-best No. 7 ranking in the AVCA Coaches Poll released on Monday.

The Jayhawks (18-0, 6-0 Big 12) defeated Baylor on the road last Wednesday to remain as one of two undefeated teams in NCAA Division I volleyball, joining USC. KU has been ranked in the top-25 for seven consecutive weeks, including three weeks in the top-10.

KU’s rank in the AVCA poll has progressed with each passing week of the season — starting by receiving votes, reaching a then-program-high No. 15 ranking on Sept. 21, entering the top-10 for the first time on Oct.5, and garnering 1176 points for a No. 7 ranking this week. The 2015 Jayhawks also hold program records for longest winning streak (W18) and best start to a season (18-0).

Kansas continues to lead the Big 12 in overall hitting percentage (.316), hits per set (15.2), assists per set (14.2) and service aces (1.6).  Sophomore setter Ainise Havili ranks No. 1 in the nation in assists per set (11.6).
