Schedule of Events Adjusted for 88th Kansas Relays

REVISED SCHEDULE

LAWRENCE, Kan. – With severe weather anticipated to hit the Lawrence area throughout the day Saturday, Kansas Relays meet officials have elected to adjust the weekend schedule of events in hopes of avoiding delays or cancellations. Events originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday will now be combined into Friday only. There will no longer be any events held on Saturday.

“Our main goal is to make sure everyone – high school and collegiate athletes – have an opportunity to compete this weekend,” said meet director Milan Donley. “Looking at the Saturday forecast, there is a high probability that many of the athletes would not have been able to participate. We feel that by moving events to Friday, we have a much better chance of achieving that goal.”

Friday’s schedule will kick off at 8 a.m., with the high school girls’ shot put and javelin. The meet will conclude at approximately midnight with the running of the collegiate men’s and women’s 4×400-meter relays.

The fields originally scheduled for the collegiate open and quadrangular events will be combined, however athletes competing for Kansas, Kansas State, Purdue and Colorado State will still be scored as a part of the quadrangular format.

Single-day ticket prices for the event will remain the same for Friday. All Saturday single session tickets will be honored. The Rock Chalk Park ticket office will open at 7 a.m. The Lane 10 Tent will open at the start of track events Friday.

Time Warner Cable Sports Channel will broadcast Friday’s collegiate events via tape-delay beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 18.

The Downtown Lawrence Shot Put is still scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., Friday near the intersection of 8th and Vermont.
