Kansas’ Final Midweek Game Cancelled

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas softball was scheduled to play its final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday, April 28 against Wichita State, but the Shockers have cancelled the midweek match-up that was to be played at Arrocha Ballpark at Rock Chalk Park.

The Jayhawks’ last midweek match-up of the season, which will not be rescheduled, was cancelled due to Wichita State overscheduling. The Shockers are not permitted to play the non-conference contest in order to comply with NCAA rules. Per NCAA regulations, each Division I softball team is allowed to play 56 scheduled games, not including postseason contests, and Tuesday’s game would put Wichita State over the limit of contests allowed during the regular season.

Thus, the Jayhawks finish their 2015 non-conference schedule with a 30-3 mark and still have two series left in Big 12 action. Kansas closes out its home slate May 1-3 with a three-game series against Baylor. During Saturday’s game against the Bears, KU will honor and celebrate the careers of its senior class.
