Kawinpakorn Named to 2015 WGCA All-Region Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women’s golfer Yupaporn Kawinpakorn has been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Region Team, the WGCA announced Wednesday.

The four WGCA all-region teams are based on the top-10 finishers, including ties, at each of the NCAA Regional Championships. Kawinpakorn, a junior from Samuthprakan, Thailand, played as an individual at the San Antonio Regional, May 7-9, and tied for 10th in the 96-golfer field shooting a three-round 213 (-3) at Brigg Ranch Golf Course. She was one stroke from advancing to the NCAA Championship.

Kawinpakorn had a stellar junior campaign in which she broke her own KU single season per-round average record with a 73.6 average. Kawinpakorn had previously set the record with a 75.4 average in 2012-13 and surpassed that with a 74.5 per round average in 2013-14. A two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, including 2014-15, Kawinpakorn was the Big 12 Golfer of the Month in October 2014 and tied for fifth at the 2015 Big 12 Championship, earning conference all-tournament honors for the third-straight year.
