First WUG Practice in the Books for USA National Team

GWANGJU, Korea – Ending a day of festivities, the Kansas men’s basketball team, who will be the USA National Team for the 2015 World University Games, held its first hour-long practice at Gwangju High School Tuesday evening. Earlier in the day, the USA teams participated in the traditional Flag Ceremony and the USA orientation.
 Gwangju High School students took their chance
at watching the USA National Team practice.Approximately 100 Gwangju High School Students cheered the Jayhawks as they went through drills and plays. Following practice many KU student-athletes posed for photos with the students.
 
Leg weary or not, practice times are precious when the World University Games are trying to organize 48 men’s and women’s schedules prior to competition which gets underway July 4. Team France had a practice immediately following the USA National Team workout. Wednesday’s agenda, July 1, will have the USA squad practicing in the same gym at 10 a.m.
 
Opening Ceremonies are set for July 3 and the USA delegation said the event is sold out and expect more than 40,000 people inside Gwangju Universiade Main Stadium. The Opening Ceremonies are set to being at 7 p.m., 5 a.m. in Kansas, can be seen live online at http://www.livefisu.tv/home.
