Kansas Football Reports for Fall Camp Aug. 5; Fan Appreciation Day Set for Saturday, Aug. 8

LAWRENCE, Kan. – It’s nearly time to flip the calendar to August and there is a buzz around Memorial Stadium as Kansas football players will report for 2015 fall camp Wednesday, Aug. 5. First-year head coach David Beaty will welcome 105 KU players to Lawrence as the Jayhawks prepare for the 2015 season.
 
KU will open practice Thursday, Aug. 6 and will hold its first full-pad practice on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The Jayhawks will go through their first two-a-day practice on Wednesday, Aug. 12. All practices are closed to the public with the exception of Fan Appreciation Day, which will be held in Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 8.
 
Jayhawk fans are invited to spend the afternoon and evening of Saturday, Aug. 8 with the Kansas football program hosts Fan Appreciation Day. Gates on the west side of the stadium will open at 5 p.m., with the practice slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. Beaty and the Jayhawk players will sign autographs for one hour (approximately 8:30 p.m.) following the conclusion of practice. Team members will be set up at tables by position group along the outside of the football field.
 
KU football posters and other promotional items will be available at Memorial Stadium, along with rosters and schedule cards. In addition, the Hy-Vee Hawk Zone, full of inflatable games for children, will be open from 2:30-5:30 p.m., at the KU football practice fields located adjacent to Memorial Stadium on the southeast corner. KU Store will be in the Hy-Vee Hawk Zone and have a location open on the west side of the stadium. The same rules apply for Fan Appreciation Day as regular season games: no cans, bottles, coolers or video cameras are allowed into the stadium. Admission to Fan Appreciation Day and parking for the event are both free.
 
In addition to Fan Appreciation Day, other notable dates for fans leading up to the season officially opening are: KU Day at Worlds of Fun, Saturday, Aug. 15; KU Day at the K, Sunday, Aug. 16 and KU Kickoff at Corinth Square, Friday, Aug. 21 (6 p.m.).
 
Kansas will open the 2015 season by hosting South Dakota State on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m., in Memorial Stadium. Season tickets and Flex Pack tickets are available now. Single-game tickets will go on sale to Williams Education Fund members Aug. 17-18 and to the general public on Aug. 19. Tickets are no longer required for children ages two and under. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Kansas Sales Office via KUAthletics.com or by calling 800-34-HAWKS.
