KU Softball Unveils 2016 Broadcast Schedule

LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the second-straight year, Kansas softball games will have a presence on the airwaves through the Jayhawk Radio and Television Networks, as well as nationally on the FOX family, as announced by Kansas Athletics on Monday afternoon.

The Jayhawks will have six nationally-televised games during the 2016 season. Kansas softball will be showcased on FSN when the Jayhawks visit Big 12 favorite Oklahoma on Sunday, April 3 at noon. The other five national broadcasts will air on the Jayhawk Television Network/ESPN3. Through Kansas Athletics’ partnership with IMG and Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, five selected games will air in the state of Kansas, while those outside of the Sunflower State can view the contests on ESPN3.

The Jayhawks will have two games broadcast on Jayhawk Television Network/ESPN3 in the month of March, one in April and two in May. Kansas’ matchups against Nebraska-Omaha (3/13), Minnesota (3/18), Texas Tech (4/15), Oklahoma State (5/6) and Iowa State (5/14) will be featured live on the Jayhawk Television Network.

Along with the most televised games in a season for Kansas softball, every game will be broadcast live over the airwaves on the Jayhawk Radio Network. The Jayhawk Radio Network enters its second year of a partnership with KJHK, the University of Kansas’ student radio station, to broadcast select home games, while KLWN and KWOD will air select road games.

Additionally, all of KU softball’s contests will be carried live, for free, at KUAthletics.com/radio or on the official Kansas Jayhawks mobile app, with selected dates being simulcast over the air on KJHK radio in Lawrence and the surrounding area. The live audio stream will be accessible via desktop computer, mobile phone or tablet.

Kansas head coach Megan Smith, who is entering her seventh season as the head coach of the Jayhawks, will have a weekly “Hawk Talk” podcast to discuss all things Kansas softball. Smith’s show will be made available on KUAthletics.com.

Kansas student broadcaster Tyler Daniels will call the action for the Jayhawks and host a weekly “Hawk Talk” podcast with Smith, also available in-app or in the audio portal at KUAthletics.com.

KU welcomes eight newcomers to the squad for 2016 while returning 16 letterwinners and seven starters who helped the Jayhawks to their second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance last season. Among those returning to the diamond in Crimson and Blue are All-Big 12 First Team selection Chaley Brickey and Big 12 co-Freshman of the Year Daniella Chavez.
