Montgomery named Big 12 Women’s Athlete of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Kansas track & field junior Nicole Montgomery was named the women’s Big 12 Athlete of the Week for her performance at the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular on Saturday, January 13.
 
The Colorado Springs, Colorado native set a meet record on her way to winning the 600-yard run for the third time in as many years at the meet, clocking in at 1:20.62. Montgomery’s time currently ranks first in NCAA Division I in the event, and was the fifth-fastest time recorded in Kansas women’s history.
 
Montgomery was also a member of the winning mixed 4×400-meter relay team at the Sunflower Triangular.
 
This marks the first weekly award for Kansas track & field this season.
 
Montgomery and the Jayhawks will be back in action on Saturday, January 20 at the Mark Colligan Memorial, hosted by Nebraska. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
