Aldrich Earns Weekly Conference Honor

IRVING, Texas – Kansas junior Cole Aldrich was one of four student-athletes honored by the Big 12 Conference earning Phillips 66 Big 12 co-Player of the Week, with LaceDarius Dunn of Baylor, the league announced Monday.

Aldrich helped No. 1 Kansas remain undefeated against Belmont (81-51) and at No. 18 Temple (84-52). He averaged 10.5 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the field. The Bloomington, Minn., center posted his fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds versus Belmont and 10 points and 10 rebounds at Temple. Aldrich also averaged 4.5 blocked shots, including a season-high six versus the Bruins. He has led KU in rebounding 10 of 13 games this season. Aldrich garnered the award for the first time in his career.

Dunn led Baylor to road wins at Arkansas (70-47) and South Carolina (85-74), averaging 20 points and four rebounds in the two games.

Ekpe Udoh of Bayor and Marquis Gilstrap of Iowa State shard the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week accolades. Udoh averaged 10 points, 17.5 rebounds and five blocked shots in BU’s two wins, while Gilstrap scored eight of Iowa State 13 overtime points in the Cyclones’ 82-75 double-overtime win against Houston.
