Kansas Football Signs Colorado Prep Quarterback

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas head football coach Turner Gill announced that highly touted Colorado high school quarterback Brock Berglund has signed a financial aid agreement to play for the Jayhawks.
Berglund has graduated from Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colo. and will enroll at KU this month and be available for spring practice.
“Brock is the ideal student-athlete we want in our program,” Gill said. “He has proven that he is a winner. He not only has great football skills, but he possess great vision and tremendous leadership abilities.”
Berglund, a 6-4, 215-pounder, led his school to consecutive state titles, while earning all-state honors and being named the Colorado 4A Player of the Year in 2010. Berglund is ranked as the third-best overall player in the state of Colorado, as well as the 13th-best dual-threat quarterback in the nation by Rivals.com.
This past season he led Valor Christian to the 4A state title as he completed 140 of 229 passes (61.1 percent) for 2,150 yards and 23 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He also rushed 130 times for 952 yards and nine scores. In the state title game victory he threw for 280 yards and ran for 122 more.
As a junior, Berglund was 109 of 184 (59.2 percent) for 2,226 yards and 30 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He ran for 890 yards and 14 touchdowns on 116 carries. Valor Christian went a perfect 14-0 en route to the 3A state championship.
Berglund joins two other early high school graduates who will be on campus this month. In early December offensive lineman Dylan Admire from Blue Valley West in Overland Park and running back Darrian Miller from Blue Springs, Mo. also signed with KU.
