Swimming Defeats Hartwick in Winter Training Dual Meet

NASSAU, Bahamas – The University of Kansas swimming team defeated Hartwick College, 66-36, in a swimming dual meet, Thursday, during the Jayhawks’ winter training trip in Nassau, Bahamas.

Kansas collected six individual event wins in the dual meet that was competed in long-course meters. Junior Lindsey Urbatchka won both the 50 butterfly (29.59) and the 50 backstroke (32.98) events. Senior Jackie Krueger collected a victory in the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:37.88. Junior Gina Gnatzig won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:13.54, while sophomore Hannah Bakke won the 50 breaststroke in 35.57. Freshman Terri Schramka rounded out the individual victories for Kansas as she won the 50 freestyle in 28.11.

The Jayhawks will return from the Bahamas and begin the spring portion of their 2004-05 schedule when they travel to Lincoln, Neb., to face Nebraska in a Big 12 Conference dual meet at 2 p.m., Jan. 15.
