Oklahoma State (13-2, 1-1 Big 12) defeated Kansas (5-10, 0-3 Big 12), 68-54 Wednesday night in Stillwater, Okla. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Kansas battled back to cut OSU’s lead to just five points with 3:22 remaining in the contest but were out-scored 12-3 down the stretch. The Cowgirls were led by freshman guard Andrea Riley with 18 points including 10-of-14 from the free throw line.

Senior Shaquina Mosley tied a career-high with 12 points. Freshman Kelly Kohn also tallied 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Norman, Okla., native Sade Morris tallied eight first half points and finished with 11.

The game started with both teams trading 6-0 runs. The Cowgirls countered the Jayhawks’ run with a 7-0 spurt, taking a 13-6 lead. OSU led by as many as 14 points in the first stanza before Kansas cut the lead to 11 before halftime. OSU shot 46 percent in the first half compared to KU’s 30 percent clip. Kansas shot 45 percent in the second half.

The Jayhawks open a three-game home stand with a contest against Nebraska on Saturday, Jan. 13. Tip-off between KU and NU is set for 7 p.m.
