MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico –

The Kansas Jayhawk swimming and diving team has returned from their eight day training trip to Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

Blog #4 (Mon. Jan. 9 — Tues. Jan. 10)

I think I speak for the whole team when I say the trip went by so fast! The last two days were just as packed, full of training and fun as the other days we were here. We couldn’t have asked for better weather on Sunday and Monday.

Monday afternoon was especially exciting for Svetlana Golovchun, Morgan Sharp, some of the staff and myself. In between our two workouts we went parasailing for the first time. The view was absolutely amazing and some members of our swimming staff said that they saw sea turtles.

Some overall highlights from the last two days, and the trip in general would definitely include the food we were served at the hotel. There was always some type of exotic juice served during the meals, which was a popular choice among the team.

The hotel staff was very helpful to all of us, some in particular were very talkative and friendly, especially our bus driver Javier who was a favorite among many of the girls on the team. Something we all particularly enjoyed on our many bus rides from the hotel to practice was Puerto Rican music, which with the help of Javier we will continue to listen to in Kansas! Overall the trip was definitely a success and I am jealous that the underclassmen will most likely get to return there!
