AMES, Iowa – The University of Kansas men’s basketball team (12-0, 2-0 Big 12) battled injuries and a tough Iowa State team to remain undefeated with a 71-66 victory in Ames, Iowa Wednesday night. The Jayhawks shot 54 percent from the field.

Senior Keith Langford led the Jayhawks with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Langford also had six rebounds and five assists. Fellow senior Wayne Simien, who returned to action after missing four games due to injury, added 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds in 37 minutes of action. Sophomore J.R. Giddens added 13 points as he hit 3-of-4 from three-point range.

Senior Aaron Miles and freshman Alex Galindo each scored eight points in the victory.

The Kansas defense held Iowa State to just 31 percent shooting in the second half and forced seven, second half turnovers.

The Cyclones were led by Curtis Stinson who scored 18 points on 6-of-20 shooting from the field. Wil Blalock added 17 points, while Jared Homan rounded out double-figure scorers with 10 points.

The Jayhawks will remain on the road when they travel to Boulder, Colo. Saturday to face the Buffaloes. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
