Swimming and Diving Hosts Nebraska in Big 12 Battle

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas (5-4) swimming and diving returns home for a Saturday afternoon meet against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, scheduled for 2 p.m. in Robinson Natatorium. The Jayhawks are fresh off a winter training trip in Los Angeles, while the Huskers (3-1) look for their first victory in the new calendar year.

Last weekend, Kansas opened 2010 with two double-dual meets in Los Angeles, coming away with three wins and one loss. KU dominated Loyola Marymount, UC San Diego and Fresno State, but fell to UCLA during the weekend.

Nebraska is facing Kansas in its first away dual of the 2009-2010 season. In their last dual on Dec. 12, the Huskers defeated South Dakota State 182-110. The two squads met this season at the Big 12 Relays in Columbia, Mo. Nebraska finished in sixth place with 31 points, while KU placed fourth with 43 points.

“We have finished out our winter training camp and are excited about hosting Nebraska on Saturday,” Kansas head coach Clark Campbell said. “Our programs match up well and it should be an exciting meet.”

Following the home dual against Nebraska, the Jayhawks will return to Robinson Natatorium Jan. 23 when KU hosts South Dakota and Northern Iowa. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

Swim meet parking for this Saturday will be in Lot 34 (by the Computer Center) due to the men’s basketball game in Allen Fieldhouse at 12:45 p.m.
