Jayhawks Return From Preseason Practice Trip

Jan. 14, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The Kansas softball team returned to campus yesterday after spending two days practicing at the Mustangs Softball Academy, a state-of-the-art indoor softball complex in Wichita, Kan., as part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming season.

The Jayhawks spent most of Tuesday scrimmaging on the facility’s full-size indoor field. Wednesday the team worked on defense and capped the trip with a Rock Chalk Teams competition. Team Warhawks won the contest, which involved executing a variety of softball skills.

“The trip could not have gone better,” said head coach Megan Smith. “The team worked extremely hard and I saw improvement each day. We really enjoyed Wichita and the opportunity to work out in one of the best indoor facilities in the country.”

“I am excited to see the team improve even more over the next couple of weeks as we continue to prepare for our season-opener at Houston,” Smith said.

Kansas softball opens its 2010 season Feb. 12-14 in the Marriott Hobby Invite hosted by Houston.
