Kansas' Spirit Squads Head to Nationals

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas Jayhawk cheer squad and Rock Chalk Dancers will showcase their talents when they participate in the Universal Cheerleaders Association/Universal Dance Association (UCA/UDA) College Nationals in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 18-21. Both teams will compete on Saturday the 19th to earn a spot in the finals, which will be held on Sunday the 20th.
The Rock Chalk Dancers will perform two numbers; one in the Hip Hop category and the other in Jazz. Heading into the competition, the dance team is ranked sixth out of 28th teams after submitting their video entry. Also on Saturday, the cheer squad will vie for a spot in the finals in its division.
In addition, cheerleaders Elizabeth Bellinger and Jacob Ross, along with Adam Harley and Hannah Widell, will compete in the partner stunt competition on Friday, Jan. 18.
The UCA/UDA is considered to be the “Final Four” of College Cheer and Dance Competitions. The event will be taped and aired on ESPN at a later date.
