Kansas volleyball was one of eight Jayhawk teams to post a 3.0 team grade point average or better for the 2006 Fall semester, Kansas Athletics officials released Tuesday. A school-record 236 KU student-athletes earned spots on the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for achieving a 3.0 or better during Fall 2006.

Of the 236 Honor Roll members, 37 earned perfect 4.0 averages, a school record for a Fall semester. The 236 represent 52 percent of the student-athletes on rosters at KU. The Jayhawk teams earned a combined 2.88 GPA, the third-highest ever at KU for a Fall semester.

“We’re very pleased with the overall success of our student-athletes,” KU Athletics Director Lew Perkins said. “Outstanding academic success represents a key element of our strategic plan. Thanks to hard work by our student-athletes, our student-support services staff and the KU faculty, we continue to see positive results.”
