LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas football and soccer teams set academic records and eight teams registered grade-point averages (GPA) above 3.0 in a very productive fall 2012 semester for Kansas Athletics.
The football team achieved a 2.83, the highest football fall-semester GPA since records were kept (1986). Soccer’s 3.46 not only set an all-time record for that sport at KU, but it also led all of KU’s 18 sports last semester.
Seven other teams recorded GPA’s above 3.0: women’s golf (3.42), swimming and diving (3.31), volleyball (3.27), men’s cross country (3.17), tennis (3.17), women’s cross country (3.13) and rowing (3.06).
Twenty-nine student-athletes scored a perfect 4.0 GPA, leading a total of 224 (51 percent of student-athletes on active rosters) who earned their way onto the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll with GPA’s of 3.0 or higher.
