Senior guard Shaquina Mosley scored 10 points, grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds and dished out seven assists while the Jayhawks’ defense forced 21 turnovers, as the University of Kansas defeated Sacramento State, 69-50, Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

KU (6-11, 0-4) used a 15-2 first-half run to take a 12 point lead late in the first half, and eventually a 28-20 advantage at halftime. Kansas held the Hornets (3-15, 1-3) to 38.2 percent shooting for the game and KU dominated the rebounding battle, 41-27.

The Jayhawks’ bench, led by a career-high matching 15 points from freshman Danielle McCray and 14 from freshman Sade Morris, outscored Sacramento State’s reserves by a resounding mark of 45-0. Kansas equaled a season-high with 20 assists, which included six from freshman Kelly Kohn.

A stifling KU defense scored 18 points off of Hornets turnovers and the Jayhawks outscored Sacramento State, 14-4, on fast breaks.

KU will next be in action on Jan. 20 when the Jayhawks will host Iowa State. Tip is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised on Sunflower Cable.
