Geubelle (Goo-bell), a five-time All-American, currently boasts the top triple jump mark in the NCAA this season at 12.87 meters (42-02.75 ft.). At Kansas’ annual dual meet with Missouri last week, the University Place, Wash., native came within two inches of hitting that season-best mark to win the triple jump on a leap of 12.83 meters (42-01.25 ft.). Later in the day, she picked up her second victory, taking the long jump with a top mark of 6.21 meters (20-04.50 ft.). Her winning mark currently stands as the third-best mark in the country in 2012.

Geubelle would end the night as the Jayhawks’ top scorer, collecting 13 points toward her team’s total to help the Jayhawks defeat the Tigers 191-167. She claimed five points apiece in her long jump and triple jump victories and earned a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.37 to garner three points.

This week’s Big 12 honor is the first in Geubelle’s Kansas career, and made her the first KU female to be honored since pole vaulter Kate Sultanova won the indoor award in back-to-back weeks in 2008. Diamond Dixon won the outdoor Big 12 track athlete of the week last season after her 400-meter win at the conference meet in May.

The Kansas track and field teams will return to action when they host their third and final home indoor meet the Jayhawk Invitational in Anschutz Pavilion on Friday, Jan. 27.
