Turner Baty Leaving The Kansas Football Program

Jan. 19, 2013

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas head football coach Charlie Weis announced Saturday that quarterback Turner Baty was leaving the KU program to return to his previous school, City College of San Francisco. Baty, a redshirt sophomore, did not see any game action during his one season at Kansas.

“With Jake Heaps and Michael Cummings both competing for time at the quarterback position, I have decided it would be in my best interest to go back to City College of San Francisco and get some game experience,” said Baty. “I have not ruled out the idea of returning to Kansas after getting a season of play under my belt. I love it here. I love the university and my teammates and I want to thank everyone in the Jayhawk community for their support.”

Baty arrived at Kansas in time for the 2012 season after suiting up at CCSF in 2011. He has three years remaining to play three.

“We would like to thank Turner for his participation in our program this year,” said Weis. “We wish him well upon his return to junior college. After meeting today we agreed that a return to KU is a possibility.”
