Jan. 20, 2006

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Head Coach Mark Mangino announced that the Kansas football team has set its spring practice dates for 2006. The workouts begin March 11 and conclude with the Annual Spring Scrimmage and Alumni Game on April 14. Kickoff time for the Alumni Game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Memorial Stadium with the Spring Scrimmage to follow at 7 p.m.

In addition to the events on April 14, the Jayhawks will host a pair of practices — March 12 and April 1 — that are open to the public. The practice on Sunday, March 12 will be held on the grass practice fields south of Anschutz Pavilion while the location for the Saturday, April 1 practice will be determined at a later date. Start times for both practices will be announced prior to the workouts on KUathletics.com.

In 2005, KU finished with a 7-5 overall record and defeated Houston 42-13 in the Fort Worth Bowl. The Jayhawks played one of the toughest schedules in the nation as seven of KU’s eight Big 12 opponents qualified for post-season bowl games. After winning four of its last five games, KU concluded the season receiving votes in the final AP poll of 2005.
