Despite 12 points each from Kansas forwards Julian Wright and Darrell Arthur, Texas Tech upended fifth-ranked KU, 69-64 Saturday afternoon at United Sprint Arena. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The Jayhawks fall to 16-3 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 play, snapping their 10-game winning streak. Texas Tech moves to 14-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Trailing by as many as 12 in the second half, the Jayhawks put together a furious rally that fell just short in the end. KU outscored the Red Raiders 13-1 during a two-minute span to tie the game at 62 with 1:44 remaining. However, Texas Tech scored seven of the final nine points for the win.

Following Sherron Collins’ missed three-point attempt and a pair of tip-in chances in the lane, Texas Tech’s Martin Zeno put the game away with a dunk with less than 10 seconds remaining.

Zeno was one of three Red Raiders in double-figures, while four Jayhawks scored in double-digits. Arthur and Wright led the way with 12 points each, while sophomore Brandon Rush and Collins chipped in 10 apiece. Collins set a season high with eight assists, while Rush had a game-high seven rebounds.

However, KU shot just under 44 percent from the field and made just 2-of-4 free throws. Texas Tech, meanwhile, was 15-for-20 from the foul line.

KU will travel to Baylor on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip against the Bears, which can be seen on Jayhawk TV.
