Kansas Swimming and Diving to Host South Dakota, UNI on Saturday

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas swimming and diving returns home Saturday for a double dual against Northern Iowa and South Dakota, beginning at 3 p.m. in Robinson Natatorium. The Jayhawks, who are receiving votes in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America’s top 25 poll, are 7-5 in dual competition while UNI is 2-8 and South Dakota is 0-7.

“Our meet with South Dakota and Northern Iowa is coming at the end of our annual 3 1/2 week winter training camp,” Kansas head coach Clark Campbell said. “The team has trained and raced at a very high level during this time, and we want to finish it strong this weekend. Right now, we want to establish momentum heading into the Championship season.”

Last time in the pool, Senior Iuliia Kuzhil and freshman Alison Lusk both won two events in the Jayhawks’ victory over Nebraska on Jan. 15. Kuzhil, a senior from Cherkasy, Ukraine, won the 100-yard backstroke (56.91) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.87), while Lusk, a freshman from Chattanooga, Tenn., won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.68) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.76).

After the double dual, KU will finish their home season with a dual against Iowa State on Feb. 4. and Feb. 5 at Robinson Natatorium. The two-day meet is set to begin at 6 p.m. on Feb. 4, and 10 a.m. on Feb. 5.

NOTE: Due to the Kansas men’s basketball team also playing at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, Parking lot 34, located behind the Computer Center on the corner of Sunnyside and Illinois St., will be reserved for the swim meet.
