Head Coach Bonnie Henrickson
On the game:

“I was really proud of our defensive effort. Our kids did a very good job of contesting shots. I thought we did a good job of executing on offense at times. We made some nice passes. We thought we could do some good things on the back side of the zone. Kaylee (Brown) and Erica (Hallman) both hit some timely shots for us. I though Crystal (Kemp) was fantastic in the paint. There were a lot of contact and traffic in the lane, but she handled it very well. Give them credit — they went on a nice run in the second half. Also give Christian Hood credit. She did some nice things for them.”

On KU’s quality defense:
“We fought through screens and defended their sets better. We really communicated well on the defensive end. I really thought our help defense was better today. At times, I thought our pressure defense was better as well. We also took a couple of charges. Right now, I think we are a better offensive team than we are a defensive team. It is going to take everyone to get better as a team defensively. We should never allow anyone to go one-on-one because it takes all five people on the floor to play good defense.”

Senior Forward Crystal Kemp
On the game:

“It feels good to win. We had momentum in the first half, and luckily we were able to maintain it throughout the whole game.”

On Kansas’ run:
“We picked up defensively and took our time on offense. Before the run we committed four turnovers and were not smart on our passes.”

On Oklahoma State:
“They weren’t too easy to guard. They had a couple of times where they got right to the basket, but they just didn’t finish it. That was fortunate for us. Any time we play a team that is pretty big on the inside you would like to have someone who can penetrate.”

On her performance:
“I was taking my time with their zone. It is just a matter of taking my time and not trying to rush anything.”

On upcoming road games:
“We just have to go out there and play hard and take the momentum from today. We had two tough ones at Nebraska and Colorado and put those behind us. We will just go out there and play the game we know how to play.”

Senior Guard Erica Hallman
On moving into second place on all-time three-points made list:
“I don’t do anything special; I just shoot the ball. Sometimes it goes in and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ll just keep shooting.”

On Oklahoma State’s performance:
“We’re not going to say they are an easy team to guard. Any team can come in and score if you are not disciplined and not getting in the right position. I thought we did a good job for the most part, playing solid the entire game.”

Senior Guard Kaylee Brown
On the game:

“We didn’t turnover like we were doing in the beginning and started running on them a little bit. We got the ball to Crystal and she started scoring, which in turn opened up the outside.”

Oklahoma State Head Coach Kurt Budke
On the game:

“I want to congratulate Bonnie (Henrickson) and the job she is doing. I think she understands what we are going through right now. We have got some things we have to change. I don’t think there is any way you jump into the Big 12 and turn a program around in one year. I thought our kids played hard. I think you saw what our problem is — we can’t score. We are last in the Big 12 in scoring and it showed again today. I thought we got good shots and I thought we got the ball where we wanted it. It gets discouraging after a while when you come down and play pretty good defense at one end and then you can’t score. Pretty soon that pretty good defense starts to relax a little bit. I thought the kids competed. We could have quit, but we didn’t. We made one more run at them. We are going to struggle the whole year, and we know that. What we are working hard to do is making sure the kids don’t quit, and build towards the future.”

On senior forward Crystal Kemp:
“She is pretty good. I think Crystal has really developed from high school until now. She has really made herself a player, and she is going to have a great year.”
