Jayhawks Defeat Colorado for Second Straight Win

BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Kansas women’s basketball team won its second straight game with a 65-60 win over Colorado on Tuesday night in Boulder, Colo. Juniors Crystal Kemp and Erica Hallman combined for 33 points in the win.

The Jayhawks held Colorado to just 11-of -31 shooting in the second half.

Hallman led all-scorers with 18 points and a game-high seven assists, while Kemp dominated the post with 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Junior Kaylee Brown and sophomore Sharita Smith each added eight points, while senior Aquanita Burras and freshman Taylor McIntosh each chipped in with six points.

“We are excited that our kids finished the game like they did tonight,” Kansas head coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We got good play from our kids off the bench.

“It was a good team win tonight and a lot of players stepped up when we needed them to,” Henrickson added.

Colorado freshman Jackie McFarland and sophomore Jasmina Ilic led Colorado with 13 points each. McFarland grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds off the bench. Sophomore Anna Nedovic added 12 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

With the win, the Jayhawks improve to 9-8 on the season and 2-4 in Big 12 play.

KU will look to make it three in a row Saturday when the Jayhawks travel to Lincoln, Neb., to battle the Huskers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
