Jan. 27, 2010

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

University of Kansas diver Meghan Proehl was named the Big 12 Diver of the Week on Wednesday. This is the second conference award for Proehl and the second for Kansas this season.

In Kansas’ last two meets, Proehl has dominated the board. Against Nebraska on Jan. 16, the senior captain from San Diego Calif., won the one-meter dive with a score of 299.97, and the three-meter dive with a score of 298.35. Both dives were career highs for Proehl. Last weekend, Proehl again won the one-meter (297.70) and three-meter dives (289.65). All four of her scores met NCAA qualifying standards.

Last year at the NCAA Zone Diving meet, Proehl placed eighth in the one-meter with a score of 544.05, and placed seventh at the Big 12 Championships in the three-meter competition with a score of 279.10.

Proehl also won the conference award on Oct. 28.

Proehl and the Jayhawks return to the pool when the Jayhawks travel to Ames, Iowa for a two-day meet against Iowa State on Feb. 5. The first day of competition is set to begin at 6 p.m.
