KU/MU Football Game to be Final Regular-Season Contest in `06 and `07

Feb. 2, 2006

LAWRENCE, Kan. — For the next two seasons, the Kansas versus Missouri rivalry will be the final regular-season contest of the year for both the Jayhawks and Tigers. Next year’s game will be played in Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 25, while the 2007 contest will be held in Lawrence on Nov. 24.

The move guarantees that the Border Showdown Series will be televised by ABC and/or FoxSports Net. Game times will not be announced until at least Nov. 1 and could be broadcast in any of the telecast windows.

“I appreciate the cooperation of both institutions in working with our broadcast partners to move this game so that it may be showcased to a television audience,” said Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg.

The original Big 12 schedule had MU hosting Kansas on Nov. 11, 2006 and KU hosting Missouri on Sept. 29, 2007.

Kansas has won three consecutive meetings against the Tigers, including last year’s 13-3 victory in Lawrence.
