LAWRENCE, Kan. – Two Razorbacks broke pool records as Kansas fell to No. 18 Arkansas, 219-81, Saturday morning inside Robinson Natatorium. Sophomore Lauren Jordan set a pool record in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:57.31), while freshman teammate Anna Mayfield broke the mark for the 500-yard freestyle (4:52.57) as Arkansas (10-1) collected their 10th dual win of the season, the most in school history. “They are a very good team, especially in distance events,” Kansas assistant coach Jen Fox said. “Overall it was a good meet. We knew it was going to be tough, but we saw some good performances today.” Kansas (5-4, 1-0 Big 12) was led by senior captain Brooke Brull who picked up three top-three finishes for the Jayhawks and anchored the 200-freestyle relay team that placed second (1:36.24). Brull set season-best times in the 100-yard backstroke (56.92, second) and the 100-yard freestyle (52.27, third), in addition to her second-place finish in the 200-yard IM. The Jayhawks also saw strong performances from junior Alison Moffit, who set a season-best time of 10:16.75 in the 1,000-yard freestyle and sophomore Deanna Marks, who finished second in both butterfly events, finishing the 100-yard event with a time of 57.01 and the 200-yards in 2:05.53. On the boards, senior Christy Cash placed third in both diving events, finishing the one-meter with a score of 244.42 and the three-meter with a season-best 270.38. Despite the finish on the scoreboard, the Kansas coaches were happy with the way the team performed Saturday and how this meet will set them up for the Big 12 Championships at the end of February. “I think we are in a good spot,” Fox said. “We’ve got one more meet before Big 12’s. I think next week will be really good for our last home meet.” The Jayhawks will conclude the dual meet portion of their season next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9, when they host conference rival Iowa State. Action is slated to start at 6 p.m., on Friday and 10 a.m., on Saturday.
