Feb. 3, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Senior swimmers Joy Bunting, Iuliia Kuzhil, Amanda Maez, Alyssa Potter and Brittany Potter will be recognized Friday for their contributions to the Kansas swimming and diving program prior to the start of the two-day dual with Big 12 opponent Iowa State in Robinson Natatorium. The senior introductions will begin at 5:50 p.m. on Friday, with the meet starting at 6 p.m. Then, on Saturday, the meet will begin its second day at 10 a.m. KU is now 9-5 in dual competition and 1-1 in the Big 12.

“We’re really excited to host Iowa State at to close the dual meet season for 2010-11,” Kansas head coach Clark Campbell said. “The most important part of the meet, though, is to honor the five seniors that have done so much for the program.”

Last time in the pool, Kuzhil, Maez, and sophomore Stephanie Payne all won two events to help the Jayhawks defeat both Northern Iowa (161-91) and South Dakota (165.5-89.5) Jan. 22 at Robinson Natatorium. The Jayhawks won 14-of-16 events in the double-dual.

After the Iowa dual, KU will prepare for the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 23-26 in Austin, Texas. Please check back with kuathletics.com for complete results from both events.
