Lincoln, Neb. – The University of Kansas men’s basketball team shot 53 percent from the field to propel the Jayhawks to a 78-65 victory over Nebraska, Saturday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, in Lincoln. Senior Keith Langford led all scorers and tied a career-high with 27 points.
With the win the Jayhawks improve to 18-1 overall and remain unbeaten in Big 12 play with an 8-0 record. KU held Nebraska to 36 percent from the field.
The `Huskers got off to a hot start and led in the first half, 19-12, but Kansas would not be denied as the Jayhawks countered with a 12-1 run. At the half, the `Hawks led 36-31.
KU lit up the nets in the second half, shooting 62 percent from field to pull away for the victory.
Senior Wayne Simien scored 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds en route to his eighth double-double of the season. Senior Aaron Miles scored eight points and dished out seven assists, while junior Christian Moody scored eight points and snagged 6 rebounds.
Senior Michael Lee came off the bench to score eight points in the win.
“We played really well and we were very efficient today,” Kansas head coach Bill Self said. “Keith (Langford) got off to a great start and that opened it up for everybody and Wayne (Simien) continues to play well for us.”
The `Huskers were led by junior Jason Dourisseau, who scored 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Junior Wes Wilkinson added 13 points in the loss.
Kansas will continue on the road and head to Manhattan, Kan., to face in-state rival Kansas State on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
