Columbia, Mo. – The University of Kansas women’s basketball team got off to an 18-2 start and never looked back. The Jayhawks downed Missouri 60-42, Saturday at the Mizzou Sports Arena, in round two of the 2005 Border Showdown. With the win, KU completes its first regular season sweep of the Tigers since 1999.

With the win Kansas improves to 10-10 on the season and 3-6 in Big 12 play.

Freshman Taylor McIntosh had a double double with 10 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Eight of McIntosh’s rebounds came on the offensive glass, which was also a career-high.

Junior Kaylee Brown scored 15 points, while fellow junior Erica Hallman added 12 points. Senior Aquanita Burras netted nine points and added six rebounds in the win.

“I am really excited for the girls,” Kansas head coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We really came out strong to start the game and kept up the intensity.”

We got a lot of our points off of our first looks. We didn’t give up high percentage shots, especially in the first half.”

Junior Christelle N’Garsanet led the Tigers with 12 points, while junior LaToya Bond poured in nine points and snagged seven rebounds.

KU will continue on the road when the Jayhawks head to Stillwater, Okla., Wednesday, to face Oklahoma State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
