Despite Snow, Jayhawks Practice at Hoglund Ballpark

Feb. 5, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Despite snow cover over much of the outfield and foul territory, the Kansas baseball team held its usual weekend scrimmage at Hoglund Ballpark Saturday afternoon. With temperatures hovering around 40 degrees the Jayhawks were able to use the outdoor facility.

Hitters faced live pitching, while the infield was completely cleared of snow.

Kansas is trying to get as many practices in outdoors before the beginning of the regular season on Feb. 18, when the team travels to Fort Worth, Texas to meet No. 1 TCU. The Horned Frogs are ranked No. 1 in both the Collegiate Baseball News and National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association polls.

KU’s first home game is scheduled for Feb. 22 against Creighton at 3 p.m.
