LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Senior Shaquina Mosley scored on a driving layup with four seconds to play in overtime and junior Taylor McIntosh hit two free-throws with 19 seconds remaining in regulation to force the extra period, as the University of Kansas defeated Colorado, 70-68, for its first Big 12 Conference win of the season Tuesday night at Allen Fieldhouse.

Mosley scored a career-high 20 points while also recording eight rebounds and five assists for the Jayhawks (7-16, 1-9) and senior Sharita Smith added a career-high 12 points, including 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Overall, KU finished 17-18 (95 percent) from the charity stripe.

Colorado (10-12, 4-6) took a two point lead with 2:26 left to play in overtime, but freshman Danielle McCray answered with a jumper to knot the contest at 68-68 with 1:28 remaining. Each team then traded empty possessions, setting up a potential-game winning situation for the Buffaloes (10-12, 4-6). Kansas got the stop and after Mosley raced up the court for the eventual game-winner with 3.9 seconds remaining, CU’s Whitney Houston’s buzzer beater fell short, clinching the victory for Kansas.

Houston finished the contest with a game-high 25 points, and Jackie McFarland added 22 points and 18 rebounds for Colorado.

Freshman Kelly Kohn had a strong game for the Jayhawks, scoring eight points while tallying seven rebounds and seven assists. Freshman Sade Morris also netted eight points.

The Jayhawks will look to ride the momentum when they travel to Texas on Feb. 10. Tip is set for 5 p.m., and the game can be seen on Fox Sports Net Southwest.
