Jayhawks Edged By Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – The University of Kansas women’s basketball team fell to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, 57-54, Wednesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla. The Jayhawks led at the half, 29-25, before Oklahoma State started off the second half with a 15-3 run, to give the Cowgirls a 40-32 advantage.

With the loss Kansas dropped to 10-11 on the season and 3-7 in Big 12 play.

Senior Aquanita Burras led all scorers with 16 points, while junior Erica Hallman netted 15 points and grabbed six rebounds. Junior Crystal Kemp was a force on the glass with 15 rebounds to go with seven points in 39 minutes.

The Jayhawks were held to 25.9 percent shooting in the second half and shot 31.6 percent from the field for the game.

“We gave Oklahoma State a lot of momentum at the start of the second half and we couldn’t match their intensity,” Kansas head coach Bonnie Henrickson said.

We played well early in the game, but we just didn’t play a full 40 minutes tonight.”

Freshman Taleesha Conder notched a double double for Oklahoma State with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Nina Stone scored 13 points, while sophomore Christian Hood scored 12 points and snagged seven rebounds.

KU will return home to face Colorado on Sunday, Feb. 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
