Kansas Athletics Unveils Hall of Fame Exhibit as it Honors the Hall's Class of 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Highlighted by the 2008 Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame inductees, representing 15 teams and 33 former University of Kansas student-athletes, KU athletics director Lew Perkins unveiled a new display honoring the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame, located in the Booth Family Hall of Athletics Saturday.

“When we came to Kansas we wanted to make sure and build a Hall of Athletics for the many great athletes that have come through the University of Kansas,” Perkins said. “We wanted to do something that was a great tribute to those in the Hall of Fame. A place they would be very proud to come and visit when they come back. We’re excited about this addition to the Hall of Athletics.”

Young Sign Company of Leavenworth, Kan., developed and constructed the exhibit, which includes 9×10 laser-engraved photos of the more than 300 Hall of Fame members. The 800-square foot display is arranged chronologically with individual and team honorees.

Prior to the unveiling of the Hall of Fame display, a brunch honoring the 2008 Hall of Fame members was held in the Naismith Room of the Booth Family Hall of Athletics. Additionally, the class of 2008 will be recognized during the men’s basketball game against Baylor Saturday evening.
