Kansas Baseball Joins Two National Rankings

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

After winning two of three games against previously No. 8 ranked Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif. last weekend, the University of Kansas baseball program entered the Collegiate Baseball and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) national polls at No. 30. KU (6-2) defeated the Cardinal 8-2 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday before dropping the final game 8-3 on Sunday.

It marks the first time KU has been ranked since Feb. 18, 2003, after the Jayhawks completed a three-game sweep of No. 6 LSU in Baton Rouge, La. Kansas entered the Collegiate Baseball poll that week at No. 21.

Also on Monday, RosenblattReport.com named Kansas the “Most Impressive Team” in its Week in Review feature.

Kansas will return to the west coast this weekend to play in the Public Storage Classic hosted by Southern Cal in Los Angeles, Calif. KU will face host No. 25 USC at 8 p.m. central on Friday, Feb. 17. The Jayhawks will also play No. 9 San Diego on Saturday and Vanderbilt on Sunday.
