Jayhawks to Take on No. 34 BYU, Utah

LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Kansas tennis team will continue its home stand this weekend when it takes on No. 34 BYU and Utah at First Serve. The Jayhawks will play BYU at 2 p.m. on Friday and will then face Utah at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
KU enters the weekend with a 1-6 record, including five losses to ranked opponents. In its most recent outing, Kansas fell to then-No. 55 Arkansas, 5-2. The Jayhawks got a doubles win from its top tandem of junior Elizaveta Avdeeva and Edina Horvath, while picking up singles victories from junior Lauren Hommell and sophomore Yuliana Svistun.
BYU comes in losers of three straight, though each setback came at the hands of a top-20 opponent. The Cougars’ most notable win of the season came in its opening dual when it defeated the 46th-ranked University of Denver, 5-2.
Utah, which currently boasts a 3-2 record, has won by a count of 7-0 in each of its wins this year, which have come over Montana, Montana State-Billings and Montana State-Bozeman.
After this weekend’s contests, Kansas will begin a three-match road trip, including Big 12 duals against Oklahoma State and Iowa State.
