Tennis Swept by Santa Clara in Washington

PULLMAN, Wash. –

Kansas tennis fell to 1-2 on the season after a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Santa Clara Broncos, Sunday morning at the Simmelink Tennis Center on the campus of Washington State.

The Broncos (8-1) took the doubles point to open up to a 1-0 lead. Ekaterina Morozova and Dylan Windom gave Katie Le and Jessica Agra a tough time in the No. 1 doubles match but ultimately fell 9-7.

Erin Wilbert and Monica Pezzotti were routed by Kelly Lamble and Maggie McGeorge, 8-0, in the No. 2 slot and Alex Zaniewski and Kacie Wagner topped Paulina Los and Victoria Khanevskaya in the third spot, 8-6.

In singles play, Morozova, Los and Pezzotti fell in straight sets in the Nos. 1-3 spots while the other three matches went unfinished.

Tennis action returns to Lawrence next weekend when No. 37 Tulsa is set to visit. The match is slated for 11 a.m., Saturday morning at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility.
