Bal ties for Third as Kansas Women's Golf Finishes Second at Claud Jacobs

VICTORIA, Texas–Senior Meghna Bal carded a 227 and finished tied for third place as the Kansas women’s golf team finished second at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate in Victoria, Texas on Monday. The Jayhawks rebounded from a tough second round to move up two spots and grab the runner-up position.
KU’s second place finish is the team’s fourth top-5 finish of the season and marked the second time that Bal has led the team this season. Bal’s 227 is also her second best 54-hole score of the season. She scored a 226 at Price’s “Give `Em Five” Intercollegiate in October.
Grace Thiry finished tied for 10th as the senior shot a 77 in the final round to finish at 230 for the tournament. Freshman Meghan Potee tied for 16th and was only on stroke back from Thiry at 231.
Thanuttra Boonraksasat got off to a fast start on Sunday as the freshman was in second place after the first round, but cooled off in the final two rounds and tied for 21st.
Junior Katy Nugent tied for 53rd with a three round score of 246. Competing as an individual, senior Jennifer Clark tied for 49th after carding a 245.
Kansas will return to action at the Louisville Cards Challenge in Weston, Fla., Feb. 27-March 1.
