Feb. 16, 2007

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In front of a crowd of 752 spectators at the Student Recreation Center Natatorium in College Station Friday, KU senior Jenny Short broke a University of Kansas school record in the 100-yard backstroke, while sophomore Danielle Herrmann broke the 100-yard breaststroke KU record. Both Short and Herrmann previously set school records in the 100-backstroke and 100-breaststroke, respectively.

Short, who broke the KU 100-yard backstroke record Thursday in her leg of the 400-yard medley relay (55.08), swam to a 54.76 in the prelims of the event Friday morning. Herrmann, who previously held the 100-yard breaststroke for the Jayhawks, shattered her own record with a time of 1:02.40, good for a fifth-place victory in Friday finals action.
