Jayhawks Wrap Up Play in Florida

PARRISH, Fla. — Playing in its first tournament of 2009, Kansas women’s golf wrapped up play Tuesday at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla. The Jayhawks shot a 946 over three rounds to finish tied for 13th place.

Emily Powers once again led the way for the Jayhawks, as the junior from Quincy, Ill. shot a 230 for the tournament to finish in 29th place individually. Rounding out the lineup for KU were freshman Kalynd Carson (78-77-82—237, T52) and sophomores Meghna Bal (77-78-86—241, T57), Sydney Wilson (84-77-82—243, T60) and Jennifer Clark (87-80-81—248, T68).

Auburn edged out LSU by three strokes to claim the team title with a three-round total 882. Megan McChrystal of LSU shot four-under-par on Tuesday to take the individual title with a 213.

The Jayhawks return to action March 6-7 when they head to Rio Verde, Ariz. to compete in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational. Check back to kuathletics.com for complete coverage of the team’s spring season.
