LAWRENCE, Kan. – Future Jayhawk Meghan Potee, who will join the Kansas golf team in the fall of 2010, won the IHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championship Saturday in an exciting competition that came down to the final dive. Potee, who placed fifth at the event last year, was also crowned the 2009 IHSAA Girls Golf Individual Champion earlier this season.

Potee led the competition through the six preliminary dives, but fell to third place during the semi-finals. In her final dive, Potee scored an impressive 56.40 points on a straight inward one and a half to push her into first place by 10 points.

“It is quite an accomplishment to be a state champion in one sport let alone two,” said Kansas women’s golf head coach Erin O’Neil. “We are very excited for Meghan. She’s worked hard this year and it’s great to see her dedication pay off.”

Potee signed a letter of intent to play golf at Kansas in November. She is a two-time all-state selection who won both regional and selectional tournaments during her senior golf outing.
