New Van Spikes Enthusiasm with Kansas Women's Golf Team

Feb. 17, 2012

LAWRENCE, Kan. – A new addition has been made to the Kansas women’s golf team: a brand new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo van. The Jayhawks are very thankful for such a thoughtful gift from their anonymous donor. Although the spring schedule doesn’t allow for much travel, the team will be able to use the van to travel to and from the airport.

Kansas was able to show off its newest addition Friday at Alvamar Country Club. The van features a television in the backseat, seven passenger seats and a storage area where golf bags can be strapped in individual spaces. Sophomore Thanuttra Boonraksasat was especially excited for the built-in Wi-Fi which will help the team keep up with homework.

“The van is really cool,” Boonraksasat said. “I’m really excited about taking it on road trips in the fall as well as to and from the airport this spring. There’s Wi-Fi on the van so we can work on homework and there’s also TV to watch which is also really cool.”

The Jayhawks will next compete in the Sir Pizza CARDS Challenge in Weston, Fla., Feb. 27-28.
